On Sunday, April 24 at 10:00 a.m., Cinema Art Bethesda will present the Bhutanese film, Lunana – A Yak in the Classroom. The film is 109 minutes long and in Dzongkha with English subtitles. It was released in 2020 and won 18 awards including the Audience Award for Best Film at the 2020 CinemAsia Film Festival and Prix du public award for Best Film at the 2020 Festival International de Film Saint-Jean-de-Luz. It was also a nominee for the Best International Feature Film at the 2022 Academy Awards.
Synopsis

A disillusioned schoolteacher is transferred to the most remote school in the world, cut off from modern life deep in the Himalayan glaciers. In a classroom with no electricity or even a blackboard, he finds himself with only a yak and a song that echoes through the mountains.
