The Blue Trail

What if being told that your life is essentially over was the beginning of an adventure?

Synopsis

In a near-future Brazil, people 75 and older are being sent to remote colonies so that younger generations can remain focused on work and economic growth. Tereza, a spirited 77-year-old, has other plans. Rather than accept the life that has been prescribed for her, she slips away and begins a journey down the Amazon, determined to fulfill a dream she has carried with her for years.

What begins as an escape becomes something much larger: a chance for Tereza to discover freedom, companionship, desire, and possibilities she thought had passed her by. Along the way, the river itself seems to offer a different way of seeing the future.

The Blue Trail (O Último Azul) is 1 hour 26 minutes long and in Portuguese with English subtitles. This film is not rated.
