Changes at Cinema Art Bethesda

Some changes will be taking place this season, which begins on September 14, 2025. The major change is that Landmark Bethesda Row theatre will now be selling tickets for us. That means all seats will be reserved, credit cards will be accepted, and tickets may be purchased online or at the box office. For these added improvements they will charge us $2.50 in service fees, in addition to Cinema Art Bethesda’s $15 ticket price. We will not provide season tickets due to the uncertainty of our schedule for 2026.

Please note that directions for purchasing tickets online will be provided in the emails announcing the films and on the Cinema Art Bethesda website or when we obtain the links from Landmark.

Moreover, the theatre itself is undergoing a remodeling. Both lobbies are getting a facelift. Ceiling lights have been replaced with brighter, more efficient LED lighting. The upper lobby, off the elevator, which used to be a lounge area, now has arcade-like games and a photo booth. Soon the process of upgrading the auditoriums themselves will undergo a modernization process.

What has not changed is our commitment to showing you only high-quality international films with subtitles and issues worth talking about at our after-film discussion.

Of course, our traditional light breakfast of bagels/cream cheese and coffee/tea will continue to be provided from 9:30 – 10:00 am on screening Sundays.

The four films and their screening dates which we will present for the remainder of 2025 are:

September 14: Souleymane’s Story (France)
October 5: The Shadow of the Sun (Venezuela)
November 2: On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (U.K)
December 7: The Ties That Bind Us (France)
