I’m Your Man

On Sunday, May 22 at 10:00 a.m., Cinema Art Bethesda will present the German film, I’m Your Man (Ich bin dein Mensch). The film is 108 minutes long and in German with English subtitles. It was released in 2021 and won 9 awards including the Silver Berlin Bear Best Acting Performance (Maren Eggert) at the 2021 Berlin International Film Festival and Film Award in Gold for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Maren Eggert), Best Direction (Maria Schrader), Outstanding Feature Film (Lisa Blumenberg) and Best Screenplay (Jan Schomburg and Maria Schrader) at the German Film Awards. It was also Germany’s Official Submission to the 2021 Academy Awards.


Alma is a scientist coerced into participating in an extraordinary study in order to obtain research funds for her work. For three weeks, she has to live with a humanoid robot tailored to her character and needs, whose artificial intelligence is designed to be the perfect life partner for her. Enter Tom, a machine in human form in a class of its own, created solely to make her happy. The film is a humorous tale about the questions of love, longing and what makes a human being human.
